Girls in Gaming, Myths

This is an older video (aged a fine 5 months or so) and I was initially going to list out the “myths” in the vid but then decided, nah, you’ll just have to watch it for yourself. There is a member from the PMS clan and she says something to the effect that “some of us are attractive and some of us are not attractive…” and the interesting thing about this comment is that it’s being presented as a qualifier.   It’s an attribute that obviously warrants mention in her eyes and yet it’s supposed to be all about skills and how intelligently and viciously you play the game.

I suppose having “booth babes” parading around distracts from the gaming fun (or adds to it, depending on your point of view) and yet it’s standard practice for all gaming companies.   In other words, yeah OK FINE have the hot chicks out there on the floor pushing product because it might be the only booty some of those guys will see in the next two years but at the same time, I want to see promotion of the professional gamers chicks who are making their way based on talent and skill alone.

The following is a quotation from the one girl in the yellow tee (I don’t think she was identified?) and she says:

Girls want to be treated like the guys but want to still be treated like girls and they just, you know, don’t understand why they can’t have both. You can’t, I’m sorry ladies, you just can’t. Stop whining. Either suck it up and be a gamer or shut the hell up and go play Cooking Mama.

Now that kind of shit cracks me the “F” up.   While it’s a bit harsh, I do generally agree with what she’s saying.   There were comments to the fact that guys trash talk to girls etc., commenting about their weight and such but guess what, we’re assholes to all other gamers.   I was playing Quake Live yesterday and beat this one n00b down and he was pissed, calling my momma all kinds of names, getting all rowdy ‘n shit.   I just said to him, “suck it bitch, I loved the way those rockets set yo’ ass on fire!” and then I left the arena.   Females must keep in mind, especially in the console world, that they’re playing with YOUNG males and they’re already idiots to begin with at that age (we’re talking like 12-17 yrs old). It’s all about respect.   You have to earn it.   Any one of those PMS clan members would pwn my ass at any FPS console game, I’m sure of it.   Then again, I’d have no problem raping their n00b booty in Quake Live.   And as soon as the raping was over, I’d post my screenshots and write an article about it. Dig it people!
