Yukon, Oklahoma MGC a Success!
(Updated 07-27-08) Had a Great time at MGC Yukon, the Staff there were great! My only complaint: Big Black Tent, in the Hot Oklahoma Sun in Mid Day. I think we could have attracted more people if it was a little cooler, and I think we needed to let people know a little more what MGC is. There are a lot of gamers that don’t know gaming can exist outside their own home. Having said that, the Plasma Burn staff had a great time and will check out next week’s event back on the south side of Oklahoma city. (click “read more” for pictures and further info).
So it was really hard to keep track of all the games that were going on. I myself played the I-Play Bowling on a Sony Ericson phone. Not sure the model, but I was told it hasn’t even been released here in the United States. I bowled a 157 and remained 1st for about an hour. Once I got out of first I tried 3 more times to no avail. Mario Dominguez from Yukon won I-Play Bowling with a score of 200.
Next up was this kid that came out of no where, Sean Burga 14yrs old and lives in Mustang Oklahoma. This kid was unbelievable. Was whooping some major butt in Guitar Hero III. I witnessed him get a 550 straight keystrokes in a row! He may have gotten more earlier, but I didn’t see it. You’ve never seen a kid grin ear-to-ear like this kid did when he won. Congrats to Sean! Hopefully he shows up next weekend and owns everyone there!
I wish I would have gotten to watch more of the Madden 2008 Series, but there were around 14 participants and seemed like there was a lot of action going on. But Congrats to Patrick Jones of Oklahoma City.
Last up is Chris Cade. This guy can wham bam put’em down. Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one of the few games I have not experienced. But I’ll tell ya I do whole heartedly believe that Chris is the master in this game. I didn’t get a chance to catch his friends name, but there was some slight smack talking there at the end and Chris’ friend was well determined that he will win this next Saturday in Oklahoma city. We will see, as Chris was kickn’ ass and not backing off.
All in all there was a lot of fun and a lot of exposure for Oklahoma gamers. I encourage anyone who games to promote local events wherever they live. I do believe gaming will become a full-fledged professional mainstream sport; it will just take time.
***UPDATED*** (Why? Because I was too sleepy last night to add this. LOL)
I also want to add: If you were there, please comment below and share your experience with us. We’d love to hear from you! I’d really like to see Oklahoma in the mainstream when it comes to gaming! Please comment and let us know you were there, or that you will be there next Saturday!

Hey, I just found out about the MGC last week, and I’m planning on going to the event on August 2. I’ve been doing GH3 tournaments every Thursday at a bar in Bricktown called Tapwerks, and that’s where I heard about this. I’m really looking forward to it!
